The Anglican Parish of St Alban’s is a vibrant parish with a strong group of young families. We are committed to youth ministry and seeking to form young lives in Christ. We are welcoming to people of all ages and provide varied worship services and ministry opportunities to help gather, equip, and empower.

The role of Youth Ministry Leader is fundamental in supporting, nurturing and engaging young people who are already a part of our parish, and motivating and inspiring them to grow in their knowledge of the Christian faith and in following Jesus. Working alongside the Priest in Charge, this position will require a commitment to working on a part time basis of 10 hours/week.  Remuneration is based on the Stipendiary Lay Minister rate, is dependent on experience and will include the benefit of 15% Superannuation.

 

Personal and Professional Requirements

As an advocate for developing children and young people with in the Anglican faith, you will develop and lead a Youth Program to meet regularly, allowing young people the space to explore questions and doubts around spiritual issues. You will also be required at least twice a month, in leading activities/worship for Sunday School and Family Services, as well as once a term for Messy Church (a service for young children and their families).

Our Youth Ministry leader works with volunteers - training and supporting them to assist with youth groups and activities - and is also required to assist with Admission to Communion and Confirmation when required.

As a people-person, you will be a strong communicator with a genuine interest in developing rapport and building relationships with our Parish youth - you will be a faithful and prayerful disciple of Christ, and a role model for young people. Time management, organisational skills, the ability to work autonomously, and strong communication skills are also required.

You must be eligible to hold and maintain a Working with Children Blue Card. Qualifications in Youth Work, Counselling or related field are desirable. You must also be a confirmed communicant member of the Anglican Church of Australia, or be willing to be received into the Anglican Church.
