About the Position

The Anglican Church Southern Queensland provides much needed services for the community, including parishes, schools, theological education and financial services, and residential aged care facilities, community care and social service programs through Anglicare SQ.

The Anglican Schools Commission provides strategic direction, advice, consultation and policy development services to support Anglican schools and Education and Care Services (ECS) across the Diocese of Brisbane and represents these schools and ECS on state and national forums and committees.

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Child Protection Advisor to join our team, assisting our schools and ECS to protect children and young people from harm by any person, support the educational and wellbeing needs of children in out of home care and enhance children and young people’s safety and wellbeing. We will be interviewing for this position before Christmas, with commencement in the New Year.

 

About You

With a strong knowledge of child protection systems, legislation and practices and a demonstrated commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people, you will offer the following capabilities:

  • Understanding of child protection issues, including those in relation to children in out of home care, and an ability to apply this knowledge to issues that may arise in a school or ECS
  • Capacity to provide advice and support on child protection issues, processes and strategies
  • Development and implementation of policy, procedures and supporting resources, education workshops and training programs
  • Research and project management on issues, impacts and potential solutions

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a professional, productive manner to a large and diverse number of people

  • Relationship and rapport building capabilities and a commitment to working collaboratively
  • Time management, organisational and multi-tasking skill, able to manage conflicting priorities effectively
  • A willingness to travel within the region, which may include overnight requirements

Our successful candidate will be required to hold a current Working with Children Blue Card and a current Queensland Driver Licence, and will be screened against the Anglican Church of Australia National Register.
