About the Position

As part of our Corporate Services team in central Brisbane, our Property Team is responsible for the Commercial, Residential and general property management and construction management for the Anglican Church Southern Queensland Diocese.

This newly created, full time role offers the opportunity to join a small, CBD-based team, providing high level support to the respective Diocesan Commissions, Corporate Services and Parishes throughout the Diocese. 

The Senior Property Officer is responsible for providing timely and efficient guidance and advice to support Clients to execute both strategic property initiatives and operational property issues, whilst ensuring the activities are in line with the requirements and guidelines of the Anglican Church Southern Queensland (ACSQ) and statutory and legislative requirements. The position assists Clients with conceptualising and undertaking feasibility analysis of Property Projects and acts as the Client representative on approved projects. The Senior Property Officer is responsible for facilitating solutions that meet the needs of Clients in collaboration with the needs and mission of the ACSQ and applicable legislation. 

The Senior Property Officer is also the Property Portfolio Manager for all Parishes, bringing their senior level of knowledge and experience in coordinating and managing property transactions (sales/acquisitions, leasing and major and minor capital works projects) to the Regional Bishops, Arch Deacons and the Parish Leadership Team.

 

About You

With a diverse and broad background, your career will have spanned both the Real Estate and Property Development industries and you will feel comfortable offering skill sets in the following:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of property sales & acquisitions including management of administration and transactional requirements
  • Previous experience in development and construction; approvals, registration and strategic planning
  • A background in Project or Progam Management and a confidence to engage consultants and contractors as required
  • Strong level of understanding of Town Planning, Heritage issues and other complexities
  • Capabilities in Contract Management for both minor and major building projects
  • A thorough understanding of property legislation and regulations, including dealing with Councils and other government department


This role has one direct report, so leadership skills and the ability to offer support and guidance is essential.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate in a professional but friendly manner to a range internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated capacity to offer a consultative approach, and to make effective, practical and relevant decisions
  • Ability to work with multiple clients and manage competing and conflicting priorities in  a professional manner
  • Flexibility to work in a complex, constantly changing , demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Motivation and dedication, a positive attitude, and the ability to work independently within a team environment
  • A level of comfort at working both strategically and operationally to achieve short and long term goals for clients 

Several years’ experience within the property industry is essential - preferably with broad responsibilities -  along with:

  • National Police Certificate
  • Clean Queensland Drivers Licence
  • Property Management, Project Management or Building Industry related qualifications (highly desirable)
  • Real Estate Licence (desirable)
